It's now been a year since I launched this project.
That day in July 2025 when I got fed up with waiting for Star Citizen's dynamic server meshing (and other technologies), and when I launched the project I wanted, even if it meant doing it alone — but you came to lend me a hand, and that's truly amazing 🙏.
In one year, we've gone through many phases: the phase where 1,000 people showed up in three days thanks to Hugo's video, when we had nothing yet; the long phase where we had to design the game itself, which took several months; and the production phase we're in today, heading towards the MVP.
We've made a lot of progress in one year. We now have:
Of course, we still need to keep working on it and improve things. Still, we have nothing to be ashamed of with what's already available — thank you all for that 🚀.
I'm very happy with the technical choices we made, especially Godot, which has been entirely satisfying despite everything I heard for months; it's not too hard to pick up and fully meets our needs. Choosing Horizon for the network layer was also a very good decision — robust, and it saved us a lot of coding time. We have a fairly complex stack of servers/services, but that's what an MMO requires, and we're trying to simplify things as much as possible for developers so they can run it all locally (to date, we have about a dozen services, and a few more are still missing).
The project is well structured: we hold public lead meetings every Tuesday evening to review what has happened and plan for the following week. Many topics move forward on the Discord server; sometimes we have to refocus so we don't go off in every direction, which happens often, but we keep good track of things. Just like the technical side, it can still be improved — we're missing a 3D/creative lead, for example.
I won't go on too long (yes, I need to get on with the NPCs :D): we're on the right track. I had estimated the MVP for early 2027, and it seems to me we're on schedule, so let's keep up the momentum.
I'm really happy with how far we've come and where we are today, and I want to thank all of you: the leads, the devs, the narrative team, the testers who break the game, the regular players who have fun with what little the game offers so far… I'm surely forgetting some of you, sorry! 💪
Remember that even helping out for 3 weeks moves the project forward, so don't hesitate if you'd like to contribute your own piece, big or small ^_^
Let's go for the MVP!
